One of Munising’s most historic homes, Doc’s Place offers the perfect blend of classic charm, spacious comfort, and an unbeatable downtown location. Originally owned by the Shafstall family, this beautiful home has long been part of Munising’s story. The Shafstalls lived in the main house while the neighboring cottage—now known as Downtown Cottage—served as the guest house.
Today, Doc’s Place continues that tradition of hospitality, welcoming visitors to experience the beauty and adventure of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula while staying in a home rich with local history.
With over 3,000 square feet of living space, Doc’s Place provides plenty of room for families and friends traveling together. The home features multiple comfortable gathering spaces, allowing everyone to relax after a day exploring waterfalls, hiking the lakeshore, or kayaking along the colorful cliffs of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
The bright, updated kitchen features stainless steel appliances and quality cookware, making it easy to prepare meals during your stay. A large dining table provides the perfect place to gather for meals, games, and conversation.
The spacious living room offers comfortable seating, a large TV, and a cozy gas fireplace, creating a warm and inviting space to unwind.
Doc’s Place offers comfortable sleeping accommodations for larger families or small groups.
